It must be Easter . . . here's the tree!

I can't quite believe it's Easter.  Oh how this holiday has crept up on me.  I dashed out yesterday to gather some twigs for our tree - the little ones did enjoy rediscovering all the old decorations from last year and there were lots of oooo's and aaahhh's!  Although having looked back at all the Easter tree's I have put together, I am thinking less is definately more and may leave some decorations out for next year!
We then made a little chicken homage . . .

All ready for tomorrow - oh no wait - I still have some secret Easter presents to finish off - eekk!  Must dash!

Fairies in the air

There were lots of fairies in the air yesterday, dancing and twirling around, floating lightly on the currents of the air.   I tried not to think of all the new dandelions that would spring up where they settled!!!
Easter is nearly upon us.  Flopsy Bunny is very excited by the prospect of alot of chocolate - I hope she won't be too disappointed . . .!  Little Roo is just excited because his big sister is but I don't think he really knows what is going on!  We've been making Easter biscuits for everyone and in usual tradition, and still to much mutterings from DH, an Easter Tree has been created.  It looks a bit busy, my tree, this year.  Maybe its the wallpaper behind or maybe I've succumbed (as my sister feared) to the commericialisation of Easter and just bought too much stuff!  Cute little bunnies though!
This year to get some inspiration I ended up doing a quick search on the web for Easter Trees.  It seems that decorating branches for Easter stemmed from Germany (the Germans obviously have a love of bringing trees indoors - I'm sure Christmas Trees first started in Germany too!)  Anyway, I digress, the tradition was to add a decoration each day during lent.  I feel slightly better now, as I'm sure I don't have 40 decorations on my tree - my self-control is still there - just!!

Anyway, while I was out with the secateurs searching for suitable branches for my tree, I ended up collecting bits for this arrangement.  I just love this yellow pom-pom shrub (sorry I don't know it's name - if anyone out there does please let me know!).  The colour is amazing and is brightening up our kitchen no end.

Bunny Madness

I've gone a bit bunny mad at the moment. I've finally made a bunny nugget - I've been promising myself I'd make one since last Easter and finally it's here! Although it does keep squeaking, as Rebecca said it would, so I've started on a couple more to keep it company. I borrowed KrisKnits idea of adding a weight in the bottom and put four 1p's on top of the stuffing before sewing up the bottom seam. I think my version has a bit of a devilish look about it - so should fit in right at home here!
Then I bought a few more things (OK, bunnies) for the Easter tree.

Then I couldn't resist this little hoppity thing, I bought it for the kids but I think it was for me really . . . If you didn't guess it hops around!! Soooooooooooo cute.

The Easter Tree

Easter's round the corner so it must be time for the Easter tree!! OK so it's not much different from last year . . but I've added some pussy willow and a bow!

The eggs have been blown. We discovered that DH was a dab hand at this and so he ended up doing all of them. We have set aside tomorrow morning for painting - which should be fun and hopefully we might have one or two which survive the experience! We might end up adding some glitter to them or even some scraps of fabric! I do feel bad about wasting all those eggs though.

Easter Tree?!

I love festivals and holidays - Christmas must be my all time favourite but Easter, Halloween and Bonfire Night are special times too. All good occasions to decorate the house and do something different. Since the little ones have arrived I have more of an excuse to allow my inner child to run wild! So this brings us to Easter, for the last couple of years I have started doing an Easter Tree - for want of a better name for it, but my Darling Husband (DH) has been very disparaging about it. "You'll confuse Flopsy Bunny" he says - which I have done, she keeps talking about the Christmas Bunny who will be delivering eggs and that we don't need an Easter Tree because she and Daddy already got one at Christmas. Anyway, I have put these minor problems aside and gone ahead with the tree and I love it! It's surrounded by all the things Flopsy Bunny has been making and a few Easter relevant toys.

I've also managed to make one of those darling little Easter Eggs from Little Cotton Rabbits. Very quick and easy to make and I intend to make more when I've got some more wool. For now one is enough! The fact that I've been able to finish a few projects makes me realise now things have settled down. We are past the three month stage and life is losing a little of its chaotic feel.

HAPPY EASTER
