A new cupboard

Well with all that demolition happening in our house at the moment I needed to find somewhere to store all my linen.  I was so excited to find this lovely meat larder!!  Yes a meat larder! It still has the orginal hooks but luckily no meat smell or stray ham hanging from them!  My new linen cupboard, does just the trick and fits perfectly don't you think?  I am umming and arhhhing about the colour, it seems a bit dark to me.  Maybe a sand down on the top and a repaint in a lighter colour - or, or, just keep it the same!

Sunshine and Renovations

The sun has finally arrived, hip hip horray!  Oh how it has been missed and it has sent us scurrying around for summer clothes and sun hats.

We had our first picnic lunch and ate our supper outside too at the weekend.  There is was a real need to make the most of it while it lasts!  Meanwhile, inside, its full steam ahead as our airing cupboard was taken down to make way for a new shower in the bathroom.
It was fun and games for a couple of days when we didn't have a bathroom wall and the children thought it was hilarious to walk through 'the wall' rather than the door.  Since having children privacy has become a bit of a luxury so a lack of wall wasn't really an issue.  Luckily we didn't have any visitors those days . . .!

I'm hoping to show you some more finished photos soon.  We do now have a wall, much to my relief and the little ones disappointment.  Although I have to say there are advantages to open-plan bathrooms!  It is certainly easier to keep an eye on the little ones while they are in the bath and you do a few jobs!

One free ball of yarn

During my search for the right tone of green and red in aran needed for the Dragon Hat, I happened to find myself in Hobby Craft and as luck would have it they had the perfect green/red combination AND not only that - they had a three for two deal on!  Well it must be my lucky day.  So I had a quick look round and was instantly drawn to this most gorgeous, bright and vivid pink wool.  Ahhh my free ball of yarn.

It's been sitting around for a bit as I wasn't quite sure what to make with it.  I didn't want to buy any more as it wouldn't be a free ball of yarn - if you get my drift.  I also didn't want to make a hat as I had made a couple recently, here and here.   I had also made some mittens recently too - so gloves where out of the question.  Then a quick wander round Ravelry and I made a discovery (which I'm sure is of no surprise to most of you Ravelers out there) but you can search the patterns by wool length and weight!  Well that was great, I popped in the yardage and the weight and hey presto 195 pages of projects came up.  After much umming and ahhing the Ida Lace Cowl was the one and here it is!  Also an excellent choice as it is still a bit parky around these parts. Also, and I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older or not, but I have felt the need to have something warm round my neck recently!!

Checking in

It's been a bit quiet around here lately, on the blog I mean, unfortunately not at home.  So many things needing my attention that crafting seems to have been put on the back burner.  Lots of ideas brewing mind, for when I have some more time and space.

The house renovations are taking up quite a bit of time, although some lovely time has been spent looking through books of gorgeous wallpaper.  The 'forgotten bank' has been well and truly hacked back and is almost ready for some gentle terracing and planting.  I have my eye on a rather lovely ornamental cherry tree as well as some fruit bushes and lots of roses!

Ah lots of plans, just have to put them into action, so instead of feeling overwhelmed (which I constantly do!) I'm just thinking one job at a time and slowly we will get there.

Things I have been loving recently:
Have you spotted anything you've loved recently, please leave a comment and a link!

Oh yes and the photo, in lieu of a crafty project to show you I've taken a photo of my bedside table, and more specifically my newly acquired book holder - how cute is that?!  It may get a change of colour once I've decided on the colour scheme for our bedroom . . . .!
